SITREP Member CTB special update

Chairman update

“We announce with regret that our good naval friend FMAA Derek Humphries has crossed the bar.

Derek passed away last week at the age of 92. He had suffered with dementia for the last seven years or so and was in a care home for all that time. His family have religiously continued his subscriptions in support of the Association and in honour of their grandfathers naval career.

The funeral will be in Weymouth and the wake at the old RNA club he used to attend, the date and location will be communicated for shipmates who wish or are able to attend.  The Association Pall has been sent to accompagny FMAA Humphries sword and presently seeking an FMAA cap. Please get in touch if able to assist and around the Portland area.

They are a true Navy family and are delighted that his CTB details will be promulgated at the reunion Roll of Honour.  see it on the website please? They all loved his stories of his career and are very proud of his service.

FMAA Derek Humphries  joined the RN in 1947, the branch in 1954, left in 1978 and joined the Association in 1994. A good innings.

Our thoughts and prayers are with their family, the grandchildren especially and friends at this sad time and may we all take a moment to remember or to raise a glass in their name. Further details will become more readily available in the Roll of Honour listing. “
