What We Do

Vision, Mission & Values

Of The Regulating Branch & Royal Navy Police Association

Who are we?
The Regulating Branch & Royal Navy Police Association is an inclusive, diverse, multigenerational, rank-blind membership organisation. It is primarily for serving and former serving personnel of the Naval Policing function of the Royal Navy (in all its iterations) and their families. Membership is also open to those who may not have served but have an interest or association of some form with the Branch.

Vision:
To be a caring Naval Association offering support to our members, whilst ensuring the maintenance of the centuries old legacy, independence and unique identity of policing within the Royal Navy. Dedicated to monitoring the wellbeing of all former Naval Police personnel and their families, as well as offering comradeship to our members and Associate members.

Mission:
To successfully foster comradeship within our membership and protect the heritage of naval policing.

Values:
Through our core values, which are centred on the seven components (Seven Cs) of Comradeship which are, Companionship, Community, Connection, Compassion, Care, Commemoration and Celebration, we seek to maintain the naval ethos and enjoy sharing experiences with like-minded people while supporting each other in times of need.

Community

What brings people together so readily is a genuine concern for one another. A community joined in unity, loyalty and comradeship, building on common ground, trust, respect and inclusivity.

Website visitors and members can find information, advice, activities and services in their many areas of interest and public events.

The members area offers a deeper dive into more detailed aspects of service life and to connect with friends old and new through the online forum.

Staying connected in times of difficulty or happiness, stormy or calm seas is good for our mental health. Come join us at the reunions, look out for new events to meet up, hop on the forum for a chat or discussion and most important of all, keep in touch, our service family as one.

Welfare first

Welfare is central to a spirit of fellowship and the Association exists to enable its membership to continue to foster, build and share good relations and friendships, whether at our reunions, through the forum or separate social media groups.

Our responsibility in a community is to be our authentic self, show generosity of spirit and compassion.

At the heart of the Association and underpinning the ethos of “we care” is the guidance, support and good humour provided by our very own Welfare Representative and Padre in the following areas.

*Supporting our membership and their families in good times and bad, advice or help.

*Welfare alerts, making appropriate preparations for crossing the bar, family contact process.

*Bereavement alerts, Standard and Pall requests, Bereavement attendance and Member protocols.

For more detailed information regarding each of the topics listed please take a look at the comprehensive guidelines in the Padres Protocols section of “our news”.

Information access

One of the main features of the website is for visitors and members to have the ability to quickly link to important guidelines, information, items of historical interest, images and events available to them.

Our news provides regular updates on what’s happening in and around our community, general advice, protocols and guidance.  Throughout the site, there is something for everyone with an interest in the Royal Navy and Policing and if you are generally stuck on a question take a look at member Frequently Asked Questions or message ask@rba93.com and a member of the committee most relevant to your query will respond.

The member Information Zone for additional content and support.

Connections

We are not alone in our drive to positively protect, support, enhance the lives of our community.

There are various charities, associations and not-for-profit organisations who share our sense of community spirit, each with a focus on specialty, vessel, establishment, or need as part of the extended armed forces family.

Many of our members support various charities, which is traditional within the armed forces community.

We are a member of the Conference of Naval Associations (CONA), a growing federation of over 70 like-minded Naval Associations who believe in working together for the benefit and care of their members as strongly as we do at the Regulating Branch and Royal Navy Police Association.

Contact details for CONA and other contacts can be found in “about us” – connections and contacts.
