As our Sovereign Lady, the late Queen Elizabeth formerly held the position of Head of the Armed Forces, passed in succession to King Charles III.
We would like to express our sadness and heartfelt condolences to the passing of our Sovereign and Commander-in-Chief Queen Elizabeth II, on this day 8 September 2022, at Balmoral.
The President of the Association David S C Lodrick MBE, will personally submit an expression of our deepest condolences to the King and members of the Royal Family, on behalf of the Association Patron, Members, Committee, Supporters and wider community using the recommended Royal protocol via the Royal Family website. | Funeral and service arrangements: The National Period of Mourning lasts for 10 days from the day the late Queen died to the day of the funeral. Flags to remain at half-mast until 0800 the following morning. |
| The late Queen’s coffin to Lie-at-Rest in the Ballroom at Balmoral before transfer to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh on the 11th of September to lay at rest in the Throne Room until the afternoon of 12th September. A procession formed to convey the coffin to St Giles’ Cathedral Edinburgh. The King and Members of the Royal Family will take part in the Procession and attend a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral to receive the Coffin. |
| Her Majesty’s coffin will then lie at rest in St Giles’ Cathedral, guarded by Vigils from the Royal Company of Archers to allow the people of Scotland and afar to pay their respects. |
| On Tuesday 13th September the Queen’s coffin will travel from Scotland by Royal Airforce aircraft, arriving at RAF Northolt that evening. The Coffin will continue to be accompanied by the Princess Royal. The Queens Coffin will then be conveyed to Buckingham Palace by road, to rest in the Bow Room. On the afternoon of 14th September, the Coffin will be borne in Procession on a Gun Carriage of The King’s Troop Royal Artillery from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster, where a short Service conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury assisted by the Dean of Westminster and attended by The King and Members of the Royal Family, after which the Lying-in-State and the Vigils will begin and members of the public will have the opportunity to visit Westminster Hall to pay their respects to the Queen until the morning of the State Funeral. |

| On the morning of 19 September, the Lying-in-State will end, and the Coffin will be taken in a Procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey where the State Funeral will take place. at 1044hrs, the Coffin of Queen Elizabeth II immediately followed by the King, Members of the Royal Family and members of the King’s Household, is to be carried on a 123-year gun carriage towed by 98 Royal Navy sailors known as the Sovereign’s Guard, using white rope to pull the state gun carriage along the Procession to Westminster Abbey and following the State Service, supported, by Royal Navy peers along the Procession route. |
| The State Funeral of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th of September at 1100hrs BST. |
| The Funeral Service and associated ceremonial arrangements will pay tribute to the Queen’s extraordinary reign and remarkable life of service as Head of State, Nation and Commonwealth. The Service will be conducted by the Dean of Westminster and the Commendation given by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Prime Minister and Secretary General will read lessons. The Archbishop of York, the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the Free Churches Moderator will say prayers. |
| The Last Post followed by 2 minutes silence to be observed in the Abbey and throughout the United Kingdom, will mark the end of the Service and the National Anthem to draw the Service. |
| Following the State Funeral, the Coffin will travel in Procession by state gun carriage from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch and travel to Windsor by state hearse. On arrival in Windsor the State Hearse will travel in Procession to St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle via the Long Walk. A Committal Service will then take place in St George’s Chapel. |
| The late Queen Elizabeth II will be interred along with the late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip in the King VI Memorial Chapel at St George’s following by a private service restricted to the King and the Royal Family. |
