Service history: Greatly respected across the Royal Navy spectrum and remembered for his service in HMS Ganges, HMS Condor, Seahawk, Falcon, HMS Hermes, HMS Victorious, HMS Ariel, HMS Heron, HMS Ark Royal, HMS Excellent and HMS Victory, HMS Rooke, Chochrane, HMS Aurora, HMS Drake.
Charlie joined HMS Ganges as an Armourer on 12 November 1957 and received an exemplary discharge on 2 April1982 as a Master-at-Arms HMS Heron.
