Supersession of Provost Marshal (Navy)

The historic setting of the Map Room in Southwick Park was the scene for the historic transition of leadership during a ceremony where Commander Andy Williams, Royal Navy, formally handed the helm to Commander Liz Grant MA Royal Navy.   Proceedings were witnessed by serving members of the Royal Navy Police Specialization, family members and representatives from the Regulating Branch and the Royal Navy Police Association.

The ceremony signalled the pivotal transition for the Specialization in which  responsibility, authority, trust and accountability passed seamlessly from one capable officer to another.

In his address, Commander Williams stated that, during his incumbency,  it was an honour to serve with such an extraordinary and efficient team who met all challenges and exceeded the high expectations of the Specialization every single time, bar none. He added that he was exceedingly proud of his team;  further that the contributions they made to their duties were immeasurable.  In welcoming Commander Grant to her new appointment, he praised her exemplary service, dedication and leadership qualities.

In reply, Commander Grant thanked Commander Williams for his remarks and commented that she was privileged honoured to take post as the Provost Marshal (Navy).  She acknowledged her prime responsibility of ensuring the continued effectiveness, performance and  continued mission successes of the Specialization and thanked Commander Williams for his leadership.

On being invited to address the audience after the ceremony,  David Lodrick, President of the Regulating Branch and Royal Navy Police Association,  thanked Commander Williams for his active and invaluable, past, present and future involvement in the Association and Museum’s affairs. He invited him to remember his myriad accomplishments while in post and wished him well for a future filled with purpose and passion.

On behalf of the Patron, Admiral Sir Alan Massey,  Chairman Mr. Nigel Carpenter and the Membership, Mr Lodrick then offered a warm welcome to Commander Grant as she assumed her new duties and responsibilities as head of the Royal Navy Police Specialization.  He thanked her for her interest in the Association and looked forward to her future participation in its affairs as a valued member.  He wished her every success in commanding an organisation which has, at its foundation, a concrete set of core values: namely,  Dignity, Integrity, Service before Self and Accountability.
